This place suits me perfectly! I enjoy the comfy rooms, free wi-fi, delicious breakfast, and friendly staff. They even helped me with a local taxi on my first visit! Recommended for a cozy stay. Coming back for Christmas!

Very convenient location, modest but good breakfast.
Were in early May - the room is very cold, the heater is very noisy. An old hair dryer.

This is a beautifully preserved hotel in a magnificent location. We were made to feel very welcome by the hotel staff and particularly by the owner, Laura. While some of the old-time bedroom furniture lacked modern comforts this did not detract from our enjoyment. On the contrary, not only was our room blessed with a fantastic view of the lake, its furniture made it feel very atmospheric. Having said that, the bath could have been bigger. We also enjoyed the food. Although simple, the meals were very tasty.Varenna is a lovely village and perfectly situated for exploring the lake. Highly recommended.

My best decision yet!
This charming family-run hotel was awesome! The modern rooms with fine lake views were spacious and meticulously clean. Breakfast was good, with fresh pastries and personalized service. With a prime location by the ferry terminal, exploring nearby towns was effortless. I found myself longing to return after just one visit!

Very friendly staff. I really enjoyed the location (close to the ferry to Bellagio). The town of Verenna is small, but a good choice of restaurants. I would definately stay here again.

Very warm and friendly lady managing the hotel.Felt very personal and comfortable, though she is firm(b'fast experience). The building has a lovely old world charm .We got a corner room, on the 2nd floor since we'd requested a quiet room.It was excellent with two balconies, and an amazing view of the lake. The location is good because it is a convenient distance from the train station (going back was tough because we had to roll our bags uphill all the way).Because of the hilly nature of the area, and the narrow streets, most hotels would be even more difficult to get to.We had dinner twice, and the food was quite good.
Did nt realise this hotel is located right at the ferry and boat jetty....so lots of people bustling about all the time .The beautiful view of the lake, from the outdoor restaurant area was, completely spoilt by cars parked along the waterfront.(The indoor dining room, unfortunately has very narrow windows, and no view). The breakfasts were not at all enjoyable due to this and the very slow replenishment of the limited items on the buffet....had to ask for refills of everything..cereal,juice,ham and bread...one by one.No eggs or other cooked items. The first day, missed it by 10 minutes,so was offered only a packaged croissant, coffee, and juice.

The breakfast was amazing, they had eggs, bacon, and all sorts of pastries. Every morning, Enzo greeted us with a smile and remembered our coffee orders, reminded me of family, definitely rare in these places.
It wasn't exactly cheap, but still acceptable.

The location of the hotel was wonderful, with windows opening right on to the lake. Our friends had a room 'with a view of the lake' and it was just beautiful. Two double windows that opened on to the lake, right across from the ferry dock. Our room, with no view, was a strange attic type room under the dormers with two small windows, one so high that you had to stand on a stool to see out of it, and the other so low that you had to sit on the floor to see out of it. It was ok, cozy and comfortable, just a bit of a surprise as I assumed that 'no view of the lake' meant that you had a view of something else. The staff was very helpful and one of our friends wanted to come and stay for several weeks.

The attention from staff and the lakeview from our bed out the french doors and balcony.
Dark hallways and locked front door for our early morning departure.

fine views and easy access to beautiful landmarks
The ferry port is directly outside, and the nearby restaurants just a 5-minute walk away provided us with perfect options for snacks and dinner after our daily explorations. As someone who enjoys walking through cities and soaking in park views, I was thrilled with the impressively beautiful structure and the warm hospitality from the staff.

The staff were very very helpful, the beds were comfortable, and the room was brand-new. The position was perfect, next to a ferry port. A cool bonus was Tutti Frutti, located nearby, it offered tea and coffee.

Our room was fairly hot as it had no air conditioning in the middle of summer. Bathroom was clean however no shower curtains which meant that water constantly splashed on the floor tiles. The beds and pillows were also very hard so I woke up wirh minor back pain in the morning. Breakfast was very very basic. We were seated outside and the food seemed to attract swarms of bees attaching at the food every morning for the 3 days we were there. Wifi is only available at reception point. A few of the staff were friendly but some of the other family members ( place was family run) were not. Overall, I would not go back and stay at the hotel for that price.

Fine view from the balcony, but the chair in the room needed refurbishment.

The building is fantastic. It is an old building with lots of character. The owners have maintaned this character by using antique furnishings. It is a luxurious atmosphere. The bathroom is large and clean. The rooms are large and the doors open onto a small terrrace and a great view of the lake. It is right on the lake front in the spot where the ferries leave. From the bed you can only see the lake and the mountains. There is noise during the day from the ferries coming and going but I enjoyed this. It is also really close to the train station. It is a short walk to the centre of Varenna.
The bed was a bit hard and the bed base sticks out from the mattress. I bumped into it several times and got a few bruises. There is no lift. These things didn't bother me too much and I will stay there again if I go back to Varenna.
